Ljusgårda in the spotlight in Dutch TV programme about the future of farming

What does the future of farming look like – and what role does technology play? These were some of the questions explored when the popular Dutch TV programme Onze Boerderij visited Ljusgårda in Tibro. In a Sweden-focused episode, viewers got a look inside our vertical farm and saw how we grow lettuce all year round – without pesticides and with minimal climate impact.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming the popular Dutch TV programme Onze Boerderij ("Our Farm") to our facility. In the series, host Yvon Jaspers travels across Europe to meet farmers and explore what it means to run an agricultural business in a time marked by change, climate challenges, and rapid technological development.

In the Sweden-themed episode, Yvon visits Ljusgårda together with farmer Bernice. Their focus was on how we work with vertical farming – using advanced technology, a closed-loop water system, and completely pesticide-free cultivation – to grow lettuce all year round with minimal climate impact.

The visit is part of a broader conversation about the future of food production, where sustainability, innovation, and local food security take centre stage.

The episode also features other well-known names in agriculture, including the Mandelmanns, making us proud to be in such good company.

Watch the episode here (our segment with Erik Lundgren starts at 33 minutes and is in English):
